The best Talavera tile for stair risers is 6×6. Its size more less can fill up the space and there are many patterns available. Talavera tile 6×6 inch size is also used for decorating kitchen backsplash and tabletops. It is is slightly thicker than regular tiles from Mexico allowing installing them in low traffic floor areas. They include residential bathrooms and powder rooms. Since tiles are glazed they are water resistant. There is no problem with having them installed submerged in water in swimming pools and fountain basins. In fact, they were using in those wet areas as part of architectural elements of Spanish architecture still present in colonial regions of Mexico.
